Still would say the root problem remains the offensive line. Vincent Jackson undoubtedly is a talent, but Rivers was productive when VJ was holding out in 2010. They brought in Danario Alexander off the street and have received pretty good production out of him. Unfortunately Royal has been hurt and Meachem has been terrible.

Things started to unravel when the left side of the offensive line went down with injuries midway through 2011. Jared Gaither played very well at the end of last year, but he's been an injury mess all year and mercifully got IR'd last week. I was worried when he parlayed a handful of games into a big contract. I can still remember Gaither from the supplemental draft and him having question marks then.

The team franchised both Sproles and VJ. After they moved up for Ryan Mathews in 2010, they had a three RB rotation with Mike Tolbert as well. Once they decided to go with Mathews, there just weren't enough touches for Sproles for the price he was commanding.
