I don't really equate AHL development success with how many players appear to grow by leaps and bounds. Ideally, you draft good players and they go on to have a couple of stronger years in junior before going to the AHL. It's not very often that mediocre players "break out" at the AHL level in any farm system. Most will have had their look-at-me year in juniors or Europe.
