The only fly in the ointment is that the Russian Ice Hockey Federation is not nearly as as keen as Hockey Canada in taking junior age players to the World Championship. It happens from time to time.
If the season is cancelled the Russian National team has a fair number of options. They could essentially field their Olympic team. Up front they have Ovechkin, Malkin, Semin, Datsyuk, Kovalchuk, Radulov, Semin and then older kids like Tarasenko and Kutsnetsov.

Given the offensive threats they already have you have to wonder if they would take a chance on a kid that has some issues defensively. He is not really the 4th line type.
