I think it does. I remember under Carbonneau Kovalev sometimes took the faceoff first and pulled some kind of super risky move were he either won it or got thrown out. When thrown out Plekanec or Koivu would play it safer.

Carbonneau might have been a pretty bad coach at times but at least he was imaginative.
