No, the Revs are an awful MLS franchise that lucked out by drafting an incredible run of franchise-altering players through the draft that's unlikely to be repeated any time soon. Seriously, what are the odds that any MLS team drafts the likes of Taylor Twellman, Shalrie Joseph, Pat Noonan, Michael Parkhurst, and Clint Dempsey in quick succession again?
They had all that, and they still didn't win an MLS Cup. Hell, the Krafts didn't even bother to show up to one of the MLS Cup finals.
They play in a stadium that doesn't suit their needs.
They haven't signed an impact foreign player (...without league assistance) in years.
They're consistently among the worst teams in MLS in attendance.
They routinely do stupid things like carrying three and four players less than they're allowed to have on their roster during the season.
They once got a special "allocation" of money from the league following the sale of Daniel Hernandez to a Mexican club that they were supposed to use to sign a replacement. They sat on that money for so long, that they eventually used it to sign Hernandez again after he played two seasons for Necaxa.
The first "Designated Player" they signed in their history lasted 12 games before they waived him. He was then signed by a team in Chile where he scored 16 goals in 33 games and got called up to the Argentinian National Team.
They're incompetent, they're cheap, and they're poorly managed. Furthermore, other than replacing the head coach before last season, the same management group that's overseen the slow decay of the franchise is still in largely in place.
Pats fans better hope the Revs are not a reflection of the post-Bellichick Patriots.
