I've noticed a trend: Galchenyuk is rarely the best player on the ice on any given game it seems Seems like there is frequently another player having an even better game.

A lot is written about his defensive game. How does it compare to the rest of his team? I know it's probably hard to compare, but I'm wondering if he's one of the more lazy ones, average, etc.

I'd say more often than not he's Sarnia's best player, however comparing him to everyone on the ice is different story. I'd say he's had about 4 or 5 games where's completely taken over and easily been the best player on the ice. Which is a fairly large amount of games.

If I had to rank all the forwards on his team in terms of defensive play:

Sarault is a much more relaxed defensive player who is very consistent in his defensive effort, whereas Galchenyuk is aggressive while being positionally sound, but wildly inconsistent. Aside from consistency, Galchenyuk needs to work on his using his body more in his own zone, like along the boards, in the slot, and puck protection.
