NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – A five goal effort in the second period lifted the No. 20 Niagara hockey team to a convincing 5-2 victory over the Sacred Pioneers on Saturday evening at Dwyer Arena.

The Purple Eagles (10-2-3; 9-0-0 AHA) remain undefeated in conference play and extend their unbeaten streak to 11 games after coming back from two goals down. The victory also extended Niagara’s current home ice unbeaten streak to 12 games, dating back to the Purple Eagles 3-3 draw against Air Force on Feb. 11, 2012.

Niagara has the week off before wrapping up its four-game homestand with a bout against RIT on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at Dwyer Arena. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:05 p.m. LS: That game is currently scheduled to be televised LIVE on both TWCSC Buffalo and TWCSC Rochester.

Storrs, Conn. - For the second-straight night, junior goaltender Tony Capobianco stole the show for the Canisius College hockey team, matching a career high with 45 saves in a 3-1 victory against Connecticut. The win improves the Griffs' record to 5-6-4 on the season and 4-2-2 against Atlantic Hockey foes, while Connecticut drops to 4-7-1 and 3-6-0 in league play.

Senior Preston Shupe, junior Kyle Gibbons and sophomore Cody Freeman each netted goals for the Griffs on the offensive end. Canisius is off until Dec. 18 when they travel to Erie, PA to face league rival Mercyhurst. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
