I'm going to have to implement a new rule in the offseason that's going to piss off a lot of you, but I think it's fair and it makes free agency a lot more fun and the league slightly more realistic.

The new rule being: you cannot re-sign or sign a player and trade him during the offseason or during the first month of the season. So basically no sign and trades. They don't happen in the NHL and they're going to make things **** during free agency. If you plan on not signing a guy, trade his rights before he leaves, but if you're not planning on keeping a guy, you have to let him walk on July 1.

Forgot to mention this only applies to UFAs; you can move your RFAs all you want.
