No trades with teams within their divisions.. Rarely do you see this IRL.. and if you do, its for bottom 6 or ahl players.. Maybe occasionally there will be a vet traded inter-division at the trade deadline from a selling team to a buying team.. but it doesnt happen often.

Also for some teams there are big rivals outside of their division that they probably would never trade with.. for example, Pittsburgh would never trade with Washington.

NHL GM's aren't fans. They make whatever deal improves their team.
