I hadn't seen the proposed player lists. Having a hardliner like Toews there could really go either way. Does actually being forced to deal with reality open his eyes? If so, that will likely go a long way towards getting a deal done. Does he just blindly keep with the union line? That could torpedo negotiations, but if everyone else in the room but him ends up actually getting somewhere, it could also kill the influence hardliners have in general.
I'm not going to worry about the discussions until after they're over because they're too far out in left field for me to have any impression of how they might go. If I had to pick one person from the group to exclude from the meetings, it wouldn't be Toews, it would be Jeremy Jacobs.
