Him missing some games in OKC isn't going to do much to hurt his development.
I wonder if being in the AHL the whole season will do anything for his development either.

He's going to get back in plenty of time for the playoff push so how in the world is him representing his country at the WJC going to hurt his development? It might not help further his development but it will be a great experience for him, something that he'll never forget while playing some AHL games during the dog days of the regular season will be easily forgettable.
Is it really all that special for someone that has played a year in the NHL and for team canada at the WC?
