At the same time, there's a pretty strong argument for Fedorov being the Wings' best player during the mid 90s and still the best forward on the team in 2003.

What happens if the Wings end up signing Fedorov to that 5yr/$50m deal? There's no Lang trade, so Fleischmann is a Wing, and the Wings have the Green pick. Mathieu Schneider is probably sent packing after the lockout to make room for Sergei's salary. But that means Kronwall plays full-time that season, and down the line maybe the Wings don't lose Quincey.
