If you don't hit the gym, still only do 6-8 reps and just do them slowly with perfect form. Also squat and do lunges while holding the barbells to get that quad workout in.
Thanks for the tips, man. If my brother comes home this weekend (my other brother, I have a few siblings ha ha) he usually goes to the gym, so maybe I'll see if he'll let me tag along and teach me a few things.
