Meaning when Zajac and co. become FA's next year he can only sign with Winnipeg for 5 years and us for 7. Unless the stupid sign-and-trade of the NBA becomes in vogue here too, where we'd at least get compensation (draft picks) and he'd be allowed to get 7 from Winnipeg since they'd have his rights before signing him technically.
