It's fair to say that Draisaitl's chances of making the team are currently pretty doggone good. It's not just his WHL production that has earned him attention and notiriety - he was also a topscorer in the DNL and then one of the U-18 tourney's top producers last spring.

I'd even go so far as to say that a kid like Parker Tuomie (Mannheim Junior Adler), who first turned 17 on the last day of October, has an outside shot as well.

In general though, coach Hoefner has a lot of kids to pick from who are currently playing in the DEL, 2nd German Bundesliga or Canadian juniors.

What the team can make of that is yet to be known, but just about the entire team is used to playing against faster, stronger players and there is going to be some good size on this squad.

Losing Rieder would NOT be a good start though. Arguably the best offensive player available for this year's entry.
