To play Devil's advocate however, I believe the thought process on the players side is that the fans come out and spend money to see them, therefore they are entitled. REMEMBER I AGREE WITH YOU!
I could line up 600 people with ease who would play for 1% of HRR. It probably wouldn't amount to $3+ Billion, but the thought process is there.
They've all forgotten that they're fighting over money that comes from US.

This is not true. Fans come out to see their teams. Hockey players have the lowest Q score of all US pro sport athletes, and by a considerable margin. To give perspective, women's volleyball players have a higher rating than most.
