Just out of curiosity, which element of the extra long battle scenes get you most? Is it any of the stuff I listed? I get into them when I'm zoned into a particular person or I have something inherently satisfying to additionally absorb such as beautiful cinematography. The only thing I'm saying is that with war movies/series, this doesn't always happen for me. Sometimes (not always, especially not in this show) I get too overpowered by endless firing, explosions, and mutilations and get sick of it/aesthetically drained by it. I expect disagreement, but I'm actually surprised that sounds incomprehensible to you.

If the main appeal is just intrigue that this actually happened at one point, I'm not really sure I get that.
