To me, there's a big difference between fastest skater and greatest skater. When I think of all out speed on the ice, I think of guys like Gartner, Bure, Cournoyer, Lafleur and Anderson.

But when I think of the term "Greatest Skater" I think of guys who not only were fast but could control the pace/flow of a game when carrying a puck by speeding up, slowing down, turning, etc. These guys used all their edges, were capable of a tight turning radius, were agile, could skate backwards as effortlessly as forward, etc. The "GREATEST SKATERS" I've seen are:

Bobby Orr
Paul Coffey
Sergei Fedorov
Mike Modano
Scott Niedermayer
