This is a lot of it.
Yzerman as a GM disregards the factor of injury and the "Russia" factor quite a bit, instead preferring to go with high upside players. How strong their pool is will depend on how heavily this factor weighs in one's mind. They could easily have great players in Koekkoek, Connolly, and Vasilevski...but they could just as easily bust or never see the NHL.
