Well, to begin with, the Caps won't trade for Joseph. They need to lower salary and they won't do so by taking on an $8M goalie, even if they can trade their current $6M goalie. The only way I could see the Caps taking on Joseph is in a trade for Jagr in which the Caps do not pay any of Jagr's salary. Which will not happen.
Tanguay would probably be enough to get Kolzig, but who seriously thinks the Avalanche would deal him right now? Certainly not while Kariya is injured, and doubtful even if he were healthy.
The Caps will not want any part of the absurd term left on Kasparaitis' contract.
Joseph is Detroit's problem and adding three or four teams in the mix does not make him any more tradeable.
Detroit ends up with a scoring center playing on fire and gets to give up their albatross of a third goalie? Not bloody likely.
