I'm well aware of the purpose of the AHL. It involves developing prospects. It also involves winning since it's a professional league with a long history and many devoted fans who pay good money to be entertained and watch their team win games and championships.

A good organization addresses both. They develop and they make an effort to win. It's not one or the other. They don't each operate in a vacuum.

So can we please get this garbage out of the way that I think the AHL is 100% to win and 0 to develop?
You said it, a good organization must find balance between developing and winning, if we like it or not this one doesn't. This teams MO is to sign the minimum number of quality players and let the other teams fill their rosters will talent. Play against quality is better than playing with quality and in the long haul this may develop this organizations players.
