At first glance, this definatley doesn't appear to be as deep or dynamic as the 2005 team.

The knock on Dumba has been his defensive decision making and tempo control needs work and its probably only been the last month or so he has really (for the first time) shown a concerted effort to fine tune these things.

Up til' just a few weeks ago...he was a somewhat high risk, wild and unpredictable player.

Word around here in the weeks leading up to JR camp has been that he is much better in this regard.'s probably not enough body of work to really feel comfortable with giving him a spot. Especially not on the big ice.

And ultimatley...there were other guys who can play better defence.

In could make the arguement he might have been better off going back to "the old Dumba"...but even then...with Morgan Rielly already a lock....they likely felt there was plenty of offence to be had with the top 4 of this defence.
