Make no mistake, the timing of the CBA to expire right upon the dawn of the season is no accident, it's just another Union mafia tactic.

By setting the expiration date at that time, you have maximum leverage and show up to the meeting holding a thermal detonator.

Great, right?

Unless of course, the other party calls your bluff and tells you to go ahead and set off the thermal detonator, which is exactly what the NHL did.

At that point, with each passing day, the NHLPA loses more and more leverage and grows weaker by the minute, which is exactly what's happening.
