Not really that strange, just a different culture of naming teams. If I remember correctly, in USSR many sports teams were formed by certain societies, and were attached to them in many ways. There were many Dynamos/Dinamos, Lokomotivs, SKAs etc. across the USSR, I think Dinamo was connected to police/KGB, SKA and CSKA to the Red Army, Lokomotiv to railroad industries etc. After the collapse of Soviet union, most of these sports clubs have become privately owned, but the legacy remains in their names and traditions.
Russian posters can correct me if I'm wrong at something here.
