I have no idea where the "trade Scandella" faction of Wild fans came from. I think it was a combination of looking for holdover scapegoat for last year (Schultz, Zanon, Zidlicky were gone, Gilbert too new, Spurgeon too impressive, and Stoner/Falk too insignficant, so Scandella it was) and because some had it in their minds that Scandella would instantly fill the hole left by Burns.

But Scandella has generally played well for the Wild and he's going to be an awesome Dman for them for a long while.

If you want another Dman, fine, something like Demers+ for Clutterbuck+ makes sense because the Wild probably aren't going to be able to afford Clutterbuck's raise next summer.
Very much agree with this, and I wouldn't even want to give up Cal for Demers. No offense to Sharks fans but Demers is quite mediocre IMO and I have seen a lot of him. Easy minutes with a stacked offense over the past few years have helped supply him with good numbers but outside of his solid stickwork and skating there isn't really too much more upside IMO. Decision making is questionable and the offensive creativity certainly isn't exceptional, I wouldn't be ecstatic relying on him to carry a stanley cup team from a top 3-4 defenseman role and if the Wild want to be that team then I don't think that they should part with many strong assets for such a marginal D improvement.

Now if the Sharks in a year or two are willing to part with Boyle, I think that there could be a deal done involving some of our younger guys but thats of course contingent on the Sharks missing their window and looking to do a sort of on the fly rebuild.
