4 years med school and a minimum of 3 years residency will put a lot of people in substantial debt heading into their 40's, and pyhsician pay is going nowehre but down.

My advice to anyone considering medicine as a career is, if you love it, and cant imagine doing anything else, then it will be rewarding and satisfying(thats how it is for me)... but if you choose medicine over some other career that you would have enjoyed just as well, you'll likely be frustrated and probably regret it...
