I fail to understand why you can't see the CHL giving an American exceptional status. If anything it would attract more American kids to come over and play in the CHL knowing that they'll treat Americans equally. If a kid is good enough, with no issues (I.E Ho-Sang with not wanting to play for certain teams, etc) and applies, Canadian or American, he'll get it.
