Only a couple of people have mentioned in in this thread, but one thing to consider is that the way the Weber contract is structured, we're paying most of the money up front. We're essentially going to get the best defenseman in the game on the cheap for the next decade. That's something to take into account - especially considering the Preds probably won't have a top 5 payroll.
His contract alone adds value far beyond just the player itself.
I don't see the Preds trading him unless he marches into David Poile's office and states that he will never play another game for the Preds. And in that case, with no trade clause and a friendly contract, you'll see a bidding war the likes of which the NHL has never seen.
