Can anyone comment on his contract situation with the Avs? Capgeek doesn't list him as a signed prospect and if I remember he signed with LEM, not the Avs. Do we have to sign him this summer to retain his rights (Donnelly we lose if we don't, iirc) or is he secured due to the Monsters having an AHL deal with him?
Beaupre is signed to an AHL deal. I think it was just that he was old enough to be eligible, and the Avs thought it would be better for his development to play at a higher level. He will have to be signed this offseason by the Avs if they want to keep his rights (they will sign him as he has been doing better than expected IMO).
I've been saying if for a long time now, but I think Beaupre will be like a better puck handling O'Bryne at the NHL level (fairly physical and a great shot blocker). A guy that can develop into a very good bottom pairing shut down guy that could step up to the second pairing in a pinch.
