In the 2011-12 season, Edmonton Oilers prospect Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was the leading candidate to win the NHL's Rookie of the Year honor until an injury limited his playing time, paving the way for the Colorado Avalanche's Gabriel Landeskog to skate away with the Calder Trophy.



Thanks to the NHL lockout, Nugent-Hopkins' 2012-13 season has been the life of many NHL prospects competing in the AHL, and representing his country at the 2013 World Junior Championship.* The former first overall selection seems to be taking things in stride, with Nugent-Hopkins scoring at a point-per-game pace in the AHL and currently leading the WJC in scoring. read more
