The Stanley Cup trustees are now allowed but not obligated to award the cup if there is no NHL season.

The problem with that is the trustees are former NHL executives who wont award anyone else the cup because altho they can they don't have to.
I wonder if the Stanley Cup trustees can refuse to award the Stanley Cup to the NHL champion as protest? That would be so beautiful.
