I can't see them buying out Horcoff, and I'm not sure that they'll need to, anyway.

If the new CBA has the same bonus cushion rules, Edmonton's cap for 2013-2014 would effectively be $64.5m, not $60.0m. From CapGeek, "teams can exceed the salary cap in performance bonuses by up to 7.5 percent of the salary cap's upper limit. Should performance bonuses actually earned at season's end push them past the salary cap's upper limit, the excess bonuses earned will be carried over as a penalty to the team's cap payroll the following season." Really helps teams like Edmonton, with a number of players in bonus land.

The only reason to buy out Horcoff would be in the event that there is another player they favor that becomes available. I see them re-signing Smid (raise) and Whitney (drop) and picking up a $1.25m backup to Dubnyk.
