I wouldn't ever do it. Although I personally haven't had a bad experience (because I don't store them in the garage lol), common sense would reveal that there is a good chance the changing temperatures will lead to damage to the resins/foams/composite fibers that, while likely never visible, could lead to problems and breakage.
