Still, in my head, anyways, it makes more sense to be able to buy the players out ASAP. If this isn't the case then no biggy. Gomez must know he doesn't have a future with this team and we've all but moved on from him. Most teams have their rosters set, Redden is going to the AHL, etc, it just makes it easier if 15 or 20 veterans aren't all of a sudden cast adrift. But, who knows with Fehr and Bettman.
