I've followed primal/paleo/ancestral health for a year now, it could be what you are looking for.
The following sites might help:
Mark's Daily Apple will tell you about the Primal Blueprint.
Robb Wolf's site will tell you about the paleo diet.
What is the difference? Primal Blueprint is a little less strict than paleo. For example it will allow you dairy and small amounts of alcohol.
