That's true...and that was pretty much my initial point. Cap was originally expected to be somewhere like 68-70 - the closer to that number the negotiations got (especially considering it's just year 1 of the new CBA and then would drop) the better for us. We could really have used the extra 5-6m this year.
But all in all staying at last year's number is a good compromise and I'm glad we can get this season started.
I'm also interested to see how these new variance rules affect Geno's next contract.
