I'm not sure about top 5. By top 5 do you mean 5th in goals against? We were top 8 last year much cause of the PK. With a slow Marty I'm not sure. If our PK was a one trick pony last year too I can see us giving up more goals than last year. If we can finally have a PP more than mediocre though we could at least match last year in goals. And if we get more scoring for our defense I think we can match last years production at least.
Tallinder was #1 for TOI when 5 v 5 last season and the season before that. I think the Devils view Tallinder as our #1 defense man.
Since forwards are just as important as defenseman in goals against it wouldn't really be fair to say we are top 5 in goals against because of defense improvements alone. But I do think we will be in the top 5 fewest goals allowed as well as being in the top 5 fewest shots allowed.
I think we will show much improvement on 5v5 goals allowed. We were 12th last season. We were 2nd though for 5v5 Shots allowed.
