A couple days ago I was looking at impending UFAs who could be traded 1-for-1 with Leopold prior to the season, and Cullen was one of a couple guys that I wrote down. But I didn't think Minnesota would be too keen on it. Is Granlund playing center this year? Is Coyle NHL-ready? If either isn't playing C for the Wild, does the organization trust Brodziak enough to be a top-6 center? It'd certainly make sense from Buffalo's perspective considering our need for a vet center who can play some tougher minutes. Also, we know Regier was pursuing him hard during his last UFA summer--he told the media that he made an offer to a center for more money than he took from the team with which he signed because the player "wanted to go home to play." That was clearly Cullen, and Regier has coveted Cullen in the past.

If there's a silver lining, you're getting a Golden Gopher in exchange!
