Problem is if he can figure out a way to keep up defensively.
He passes up to many opportunities to shoot. Watch him wait for the one timer, he returns ever pass that is not EXACTLY in his sweet spot. He does not (maybe can not?) adjust to the pass. Probably he does this because he is nervous and wants every shot to be a KABOOM! Nevertheless, it makes him ineffective.
The problem you mention, well...that is why he won't get the ice time.
The best thing I can say about his game without the puck is that for a guy his size, he does lay out the solid bodycheck once every two or three games.
It is in his hands. He needs to be more confident in his shot, and confident in his positioning defensively. Otherwise, he will never develop. I do not see it happening for him in the NHL
