And it's quite funny that Canuck fans feel a huge decision such as letting a premier GM go is somehow tied to his unwillingness to trade Jake Gardiner for Roberto Luongo.

The fact of the matter is that Mike Gillis and Roberto Luongo are preparing to part ways. Gillis has been tasked with trading Luongo, which means that most leverage has been taken away from Gillis in negotiations, regardless of how many times Gillis has said he'd be okay with Cory and Roberto sharing duties heading into the season.

The whole hockey world knows he has to trade Roberto. Mike Gillis has his back against the wall in this particular circumstance, IMO.
