Means Redden will be cashing in less than $6M on the last 2 years of his contract. Let us say he voids contract and assume he can get a 2 year deal elsewhere for around 2,5M per. Meaning close to $4M the next 2 years. Welcome to Long Island (or Edmonton).

I find this not impossible considering he has already made $29M on his contract in New York and in addition already made $37,920,000 BEFORE coming to NYC. So in total (before escrow, taxes and agent fees) Wade has made around $67 M as an NHL player in his career.

Doable - but perhaps not going to happen in the end. Time will tell if he has any "pride" to take a chance to rejuvenate his career (costing him $2M though) or if Option 3 is the path he takes...
