Michael Del Zotto remains unsigned following three days of talks between his camp and management. The defenseman, who has been on the ice for the informal workouts, will not be permitted to participate in camp until he is under contract.
DZ is not allowed to sign a contract until the lockout is lifted. As we saw with the lockout, the NHL is a deadline league. The NHL and NHLPA didn't negotiate until the last possible moment of getting in a 48 game season. Its taken a week to get the deal on paper and have both sides vote. Trades don't done until the trading deadline.

It appears Wade Redden will sit out the season at home at the Rangers’ request in order to ensure he does not get hurt and thus jeopardize the planned postseason compliance buyout of the final year of his contract.
Reds will get his full salary. He has the choice of terminating his SPC and becoming a free agent. The Rangers have no other choice other than having Redden stay at home. We discussed that in the last lockout thread before the CBA was struck on Sunday.
