Don't get me wrong. I will be the first to say there have been few Caps players that could totally control a game like Mike Green could. For me the first sign was how much his game dropped off when he was banged up. The little things took him from the best player on the ice to just another guy. And it seem to happen way to often.
And my fear all along was that we were going to pay him a huge contract to be the Caps #1 dman. And he would only be that player part time. And rarely late in the season when we would need him most.
And he never even made it to that point. GMGM held on to another big shiny apple until it was just another rotten apple.
And now we just have to hope for the best.
