That's quibbling. You're quoting an English-language press release that you can be 100% sure wasn't worded by Višňovský but prepared by his agent. In contrast, I've been listening to Višňovský's statements in the original Slovak language for weeks now. At all times, Višňovský made it clear that if he is legally obliged to report to the Isles, he will, stressing every time that he would have reported to the Isles back in September if there had been no lockout.

Višňovský simply believes (or believed, until KHL president Medvedev gave him up) that he has (or had) a legal right to finish playing his season in the KHL instead of in the NHL. After all, the KHL boss had been saying much the same thing about Kovalchuk and other NHL players.
