He could be fine. Schenn is roughly the same size and seems fine in the corners.

Edit: I think I just like the size on the Kings roster.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't he been playing hockey for awhile now. If anything, he's already shed the "quickly" weight you're referring to.
