He's never been the number 1 for a full season, he's barely even played in the league meaning other players haven't found his weaknesses yet. Sure he has great character and looks like a good goalie but he is nowhere near the level of Luongo at this point.

In terms of goaltending skill there is no doubt Schneider is at the very least Luongo's equal...the only reason he isn't "near the level of Luongo" is because he hasn't played in the NHL for 12 seasons.
Schneider may not be the same proven commodity as Luongo, but he's not the same age, doesn't have the same lengthy contract and doesn't have the same baggage. Trading Luongo might turn out to be the biggest mistake Gillis ever makes, but IMO its one he's pretty much forced to make now so people better get on board.
