Old Leafs are New Again; Leafs sign Aulie

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that they have added another face to their blueline, signing newly unrestricted free agent Keith Aulie to a 4 year, 8M$ contract which will pay him 2M$ per season.

"When Tampa Bay did not qualify Keith Aulie, we immediately recognized an opportunity to bring back a player who still looks like our future shut-down defenceman. Particularly after trading Luke Schenn, we identified this as a need on the team, and Keith is young and can grow with us." Leafs GM TribalPhoenix stated in a press release.

"We recognize the contract offered is a generous one, but this was not a situation where we wanted to waste time negotiating. Striking while the iron was hot was a high priority. This will also allow us to move forward with our other plans for free agency."
