The oldest player to have be at the top for a significant length of time was likely Mario in '03. He was ahead for most of the season, and still tied for the lead with 15 games left at age 37.
Nice work, yes those were the first two seasons I was thinking about as well. Gretzky was close in 1998, 12 points off, but he never led the league at any point since he went on a tear at the end of the year.
