I can never see Jets drafting a guy like Jakob Silfverberg, a guy that Ottawa drafted in the 2nd round a few years ago who now looks like top 6 guy. Frk who was drafted by the Wings in the second round just a few spots after the Jets is doing very well in the QMJHL. I'm not using the benefit of hindsight here to argue that the Jets should have drafted Frk, my point is that looking at the Jets drafting record, guys like Silfverberg and Frk wouldn't even be considered
. I hope the Jets are a little more diverse in their drafting and consider skill players too. They got lucky this season with Trouba, otherwise passing up on Forsberg would have been remembered for a very long time.
Yeah, I love the big strong physical players as much as the next guy, but I too think they have to look outside the box and swing for the fences on a less physical and more skilled player from time to time. Perhaps they need some better European scouts to find these guys.
You mention a guy like Silfverberg and I too wish, but for whatever reason cannot see the JETS drafting these types of players.
Guys in this year's draft that may fall into this category are Marko Dano, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Arturri Lehkonen, Jacob de la Rose and Lucas Wallmark. Andre Burakowsky is another guy, but I expect he'll be a definite 1st rounder while I believe the others are more likely to slip into round 2.
I'd be all for the JETS upping the euro skill in the system and taking a couple of these with their extra 2nd or 3rd rounders.
