REAL-WORLD TEAM HISTORY
THE CENTRAL HOCKEY LEAGUE'S ST. LOUIS BLACK HAWKS RELOCATED TO DALLAS FOR THE 1967-68 SEASON, WHERE THEY PLAYED UNTIL 1982. THE LONG-TIME CHICAGO BLACK HAWKS FARM TEAM WON FOUR ADAMS CUP CHAMPIONSHIPS AND MISSED THE PLAYOFFS ONLY ONCE IN 15 YEARS. DALLAS ENJOYED A PASSIONATE SERIES WITH CROSS-TOWN RIVALS FORT WORTH WINGS, WHICH WAS HIGH/LOW LIGHTED BY A 10 CENT BEER NIGHT/RIOT IN 1978. WHILE ALSO COACHED BY ROGER NEILSON AND JOHN MUCKLER, THE HAWKS ENJOYED THEIR MOST SUCCESS UNDER BOBBY KROMM. COACHING A TEAM WITH A REPUTATION FOR TOUGH, PHYSICAL PLAY, KROMM WAS BEHIND THE BENCH FOR THE FIRST THREE ADAMS CUPS BEFORE WINNING THE W.H.A. TITLE WITH THE WINNIPEG JETS AND COACHING THREE YEARS WITH THE DETROIT RED WINGS. THE END OF THE ROAD FOR THE BLACK HAWKS CAME WHEN PARENT CLUB VANCOUVER CANUCKS DECIDED NOT TO RENEW THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE DALLAS OUTFIT, WHICH BROUGHT ABOUT A 10-YEAR HIATUS FOR PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY IN NORTH TEXAS.

NOTABLE N.H.L. ALUMNI INCLUDE: DIRK GRAHAM, RON WILSON, RANDY CARLYLE, PAUL SHMYR, DAN MALONEY, STAN SMYL, J.P. BORDELEAU AND CLIFF KOROLL.

THE DALLAS BLACK HAWKS PLAYED THEIR HOME GAMES AT THE FAIR PARK COLISEUM. THE COLISEUM IS LOCATED ON THE TEXAS STATE FAIRGROUNDS IN EAST DALLAS, A FEW HUNDRED YARDS AWAY FROM THE COTTON BOWL STADIUM OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL FAME. THE 7,000 SEAT BARN WAS ORIGINALLY BUILT FOR LIVESTOCK SHOWS AND WOULD LATER (BRIEFLY) HOST THE CENTRAL HOCKEY LEAGUE'S DALLAS FREEZE.
